KEY POINTS
- Brad Pitt reunited with his son, Maddox last weekend
- Maddox Jolie-Pitt is back in town during his short break from school
- Brad Pitt has been estranged from his eldest son, Maddox
Brad Pitt won the best actor award at the BAFTAs last Sunday, but he wasn’t around to accept his trophy. Now, the reason for his absence has finally been revealed.
A source told The Sun that when Pitt found out that his estranged son, Maddox, will be in town, he decided to skip the awards show to reunite with the 18-year-old. Pitt and Maddox have not spoken to each other in years. But last weekend finally came and Maddox agreed to talk to his dad.
“Being a father is the most important thing in his life and he would do anything to repair their relationship. Maddox has been away at university so when Brad found out he was going to be around and they would have a conversation, he canceled the UK trip,” the source said.
Pitt’s ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, must have given Maddox permission to reunite with his dad. Even though Maddox is already of legal age, he is very close to his mom.
In fact, Maddox was one of the reasons why Jolie decided to file for divorce from Pitt. In 2016, reports revealed that Pitt and Maddox got into an altercation while onboard a private plane. At that time, Pitt was reportedly intoxicated.
Jolie previously fought for sole custody of her six children, but the court claimed that Pitt also has a right to spend time with his kids.
Meanwhile, Pitt and Maddox’s relationship were off to a good start in early 2000. At that time, Pitt and Jolie starred in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”
While speaking with Vogue, Jolie revealed that the exact moment when she realized that Pitt was the one for her. According to her, Maddox just called Pitt “dad” out of the blue.
“It was amazing. We were playing with cards on the floor of a hotel room, and we both heard it and didn’t say anything and just looked at each other. So, that was probably the most defining moment, when we decided that we would all be a family,” she said.
