Brandy Engaged To Music Executive Fiancé, Ryan Press
Singer Brandy Norwood is engaged to music executive Ryan Press, Us Weekly confirmed.
Us followed up on rumors first reported by gossip website, Love B. Scott on Dec. 25, and received confirmation from an insider that the couple are in fact betrothed.
"They are thrilled and happy and Brandy feels this is so right," the insider told Us.
Brandy had apparently been anticipating the proposal for many months prior. In an August interview with Sister2Sister magazine, the singer expressed her anxiousness.
"I keep hearing about a ring. People keep calling me, hinting to me about it, but I don't know," she told Sister2Sister.
"I'm going to be patient and let it happen and just let it be. . . I guess it will happen when it's the right time."
Brandy also told Us Weekly in August that until she met her now, fiancé, she had lost faith in love.
"I had given up on love a long time ago. It just didn't seem to work for me, so I was single for a very long time," Brandy told Us.
"I stopped looking for love and then I ran into my boyfriend."
"He just loves me for who I am. I don't have to camouflage anything for him or put on a mask. I can completely be myself and he loves me so much and I love him just the way he is, too."
Brandy was notably in a relationship with music producer, Robert Smith, with whom she has a 10-year-old daughter, Sy'rai. At the time, the two claimed to be engaged for two years following news of her pregnancy; however, in 2008 the singer admitted the truth that they were never married.
"I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model," she told Us.
"Our relationship was very real -- we just weren't legally married."
The singer released her her sixth studio album, Two Eleven, in October; the album is named in memory of fellow singer, Whitney Houston, who died on Feb. 11, which also happens to be Brandy's birthday.
