Bray Wyatt Next Opponent: Roman Reigns, Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton Candidates For WWE PPV Match

After his loss to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31, Bray Wyatt appears to have his eyes on a new WWE superstar. The wrestler seemingly called out someone on the roster in his promo on the April 6 edition of “Monday Night Raw.”

Wyatt’s first few promos that were directed at The Undertaker weren’t straightforward, but it was clear that he was talking about the Deadman, especially because of rumors surrounding who he might fight at WrestleMania 31. Monday’s promo, though, offers very few hints about his possible next opponent.

"You know who you are. I'm talking to you,” Wyatt said. “Your entire life has revolved around dedication. But I'm here to tell you that no matter how dedicated you are, you cannot compete with the forces of nature. You cannot compete with the power of the wind or the ocean. And you most certainly cannot compete against the greatest power of them all: fear. For it is not your drive for success that molds you, it is your fear of failure. And I know deep behind your skin underneath the flesh and bone holds the key to your undoing. Do I have your attention now? Behold the new face of fear."

The promo could have been directed at a number of WWE superstars, though some are easy to dismiss as possibilities. Since Wyatt is a heel, it’s almost certain that his words were directed at a babyface. John Cena, Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose aren’t likely candidates, since each wrestler has already had an extended feud with Wyatt.

There’s a chance Wyatt could be calling out someone who’s not on the current WWE roster. Could he be looking for a match with an NXT superstar? What about Sting? The former face of WCW did say after his loss to Triple H that he’d grab any opportunity that WWE throws his way.

Extreme Rules is set for Sunday, April 26, and Wyatt could face the man he called out at the PPV. Assuming Wyatt is talking about a wrestler on the current WWE roster, below are the three most likely candidates to be his next opponent.

Randy Orton

The Viper is scheduled to face Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules, but Wyatt doesn’t necessarily have to be calling out someone for a match at the upcoming PPV. His cryptic promos regarding The Undertaker began after the Royal Rumble, and he didn’t officially challenge the Phenom until WWE Fast Lane.

Wyatt could do the same this time around, but instead of calling out his next opponent at Extreme Rules with a promo, he could get involved in that wrestler’s match. That’s what Wyatt did at Hell in a Cell when he attacked Dean Ambrose in the Lunatic Fringe’s match with Seth Rollins.

Orton isn’t likely to defeat Rollins, but the current WWE World Heavyweight Champ might not go over cleanly. Orton vs. Wyatt would have a lot of potential, giving fans a fresh matchup involving two of WWE’s top superstars.

Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler is currently involved in the Intercontinental Championship picture, and WWE’s current booking indicates that he could possibly have a match with Sheamus at Extreme Rules. But a feud with Wyatt would certainly make sense.

Wyatt’s line about “dedication” is very vague, but it’s possible that he’s referring to Ziggler. The Showoff has been a fan favorite for years, and he’s done his best to fight his way up the card, despite a perceived lack of support from the front office. WWE has even used that notion in storylines, pitting Ziggler directly against The Authority.

The two wrestlers haven’t ever engaged in a prolonged feud, but they’ve had multiple matches in 2015. Wyatt defeated Ziggler in consecutive weeks on “Raw” as he continued to challenge The Undertaker.

Roman Reigns

The former Shield member’s push to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion seems to have been halted, at least for the time being. Orton won the right to face Rollins at Extreme Rules, and the potential future top babyface of WWE is left without an opponent. There’s been speculation that he would face Big Show, but that match has been seen multiple times this year, including on Monday.

It doesn’t look like WWE is turning Reigns heel, so he could enter into a program with Wyatt for the next few months. While fighting Wyatt won’t be the same as contending for the company’s top title, it wouldn’t be perceived as a major step down on the card, which WWE is likely looking to avoid.
