The total number of global Facebook users reached around 700 million at the end of May, with the developing countries leading the pack, a report said.

“Facebook is still on the rise, and as we're seeing the latest progress, number of its total users is closing in to 700 million users,” said Social Bakers, one of the largest Facebook statistics portals in the world.

The top growing country with maximum users last month was Brazil with more than 1.9 million users which indicated a growth rate of more than 10 percent.

The data released at the end of May showed, apart from Brazil, the other growing countries were Indonesia with more than 3.5 million users, Philippines, Mexico and Argentina.

The list concluded with India, Egypt, Turkey and UK in the top ten list, the Social Bakers website reported.
