The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired the services of infielder Owen Miller from the Cleveland Guardians.

In return, the Guardians will reportedly be receiving a yet-to-be-named player and cash in exchange for the 26-year-old player from Wisconsin.

This comes not long after the Brewers made room for Miller on their 40-man roster after designating Mario Feliciano for assignment, according to the report from Associated Press.

It will also be a homecoming of sorts for the Ozaukee High School standout since was born in the Milwaukee suburb of Mequon.

Last season with the Guardians, Miller batted .243 with six homers, 51 RBIs, a .301 on-base percentage, and a .351 slugging percentage in 130 games.

He primarily played first base but also made appearances at second base and third.

"Owen is someone we are happy to add to our infield mix," Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold said in a statement. "He brings a combination of athleticism and versatility that helps enhance our depth across the diamond. And bringing home a hometown product is always a nice bonus."

For the Guardians, the decision to move Miller comes not long after they signed first baseman Josh Bell to a two-year, $33 million contract.

Given that Miller is a flexible player, the Brewers could be getting a key addition

. He would be a good fit to take the place of Josh Peterson, who opted to sign a $9.5 million two-year deal with the Oakland Athletics last week.

Although Miller showed promise, he was coming off an underwhelming 2022 MLB season.

He started the season batting .400 with an OPS of 1.166 from March to April, but his performance took a notable dive from there.

Miller was technically a backup for the Guardians last season. However, he was able to provide the team with stability, particularly when Josh Naylor was not playing.

The sensational infielder has two minor-league options remaining and joins a crowded infield mix that includes Rowdy Tellez, Abraham Toro, Luis Urías, Willy Adames, Brice Turang, Keston Hiura and Mike Brosseau.
