Brian Laundrie Manhunt Update: Dog The Bounty Hunter's Search Slammed As Being 'Totally Staged'
Duane Chapman, also known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, recently joined the search for Brian Laundrie, a 23-year-old man wanted for questioning in the disappearance and death of his fiance Gabby Petito.
But Chapman's presence in the manhunt may be a distraction.
Cecily Chapman, 28, who was adopted by Duane Chapman after he married her late mother Beth, believes his participation in the search is simply an attempt to gain media attention.
“It’s just a publicity stunt. That’s really what it is,” she said. “He needs to back off and let the FBI handle it.”
Cecily Chapman claimed the video of Duane Chapman searching swamp water in Florida looks “looks totally staged” and dismissed the idea of him making progress in the high profile case.
Despite his search in Laundrie’s disappearance, Cecily Chapman doesn’t believe he will be the one to bring the fugitive to authorities.
“To be completely honest with you, the FBI is never going to let Dog the Bounty Hunter catch Brian anyway — the FBI is way too prideful for that,” she said.
Although Cecily Chapman continues to have doubts about his progress in the case, the reality star’s other daughter Lyssa, 34, has insisted he has been actively searching for Laundrie and received “a ton of information."
“Due to all the media coverage, we have had to let things cool down and allow the REAL leads come back in. Tips are once again becoming more streamlined and verifiable,” she stated in a tweet.
Cecily as well as her sister Bonnie, 22, have been estranged from Duane Chapman after accusing the bounty hunter of homophobia, infidelity, and racism.
Meanwhile, Laundrie’s family remains in the dark about his whereabouts. During an appearance on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, his sister Cassie revealed she does not know her brother’s location but would turn him in if she did.
Ultimately she wants Laundrie to return home and get the family “out of this horrible mess.”
