Those who hope to one day work for the British royal family at Buckingham Palace will have to be ready to conquer a variety of tasks and obstacles from encountering intruders to being mindful of the specific words that they and their employers use.

Now, a new report has highlighted another step that potential employees will have to take if they hope to one day work for Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and others.

According to Express, a "little test" takes place in order to find the right fit. Royal expert Angela Mollard recently revealed one of the particularly unusual exams that hopefuls have to pass once they meet with a palace recruiter.

In an episode of Zoe Burrell's Royals podcast, Mollard shared the strange detail. "The interviewee will come into the palace and a sitting room and the recruiter puts a dead fly in the fireplace. She will then direct the person over to the fireplace, before or after the interview," the expert said, adding that the recruiter is looking for someone who "will actually pick up the dead fly."

She added, "Whoever picks it up is exactly who she needs working in the palace because those are the ones that will see the small things that need to be done and realize it is all for the greater good." As for how many tend to take that particular step, Mollard said about five out of every 10 applicants seem to do so.

This would not be the first time that certain aspects of the royal hiring process have been publicly shared. A previous report revealed that saying one particular phrase in the very first line of an application would result in disqualification.

As for job openings that have been available in the past, earlier this year, Queen Elizabeth II was searching for someone to tackle certain challenges. However, anyone hoping to fulfill a specific role for Meghan Markle in the future would be out of luck as she has reportedly refused to hire anyone to fulfill certain duties up to this point.
