From Britney Spears to Charlie Sheen: Celebrities with shortest 'I Dos'
Hollywood is home to some rather strange happenings - one of which is the 'really short marriage'. Out here, it doesn't take much time for an I Do to turn into an I Don't!
Britney Spears' marriage to Jason Allen Alexander in 2004 lasted just 55 hours! They married in Las Vegas in 'A Little White Wedding Chapel'. Britney walked down the aisle on the arm of a hotel bellboy wearing a baseball cap, torn jeans, and a belly-baring shirt. Costing Britney $200, the wedding ceremony lasted just 7 minutes. 55 hours later, the marriage was annulled!
Jennifer Lopez and backup dancer Cris Judd were married in September 2001. The marriage ended in June 2002 when Jennifer started dating Ben Affleck. The world was stunned by the news simply because a little before the split J.Lo had said, Chris brings serenity into my world. In the midst of the crazy storm that is my life, his love is what I need most of all. Looks like the serenity was just not enough.
Nicolas Cage married Lisa Marie Presley in a beautiful outdoor wedding on the Big Island of Hawaii in August 2002. They filed for divorce just 3 months later - in November 2002. The divorce was finalized in May 2004, making the marriage shorter than the divorce proceeding!
Eight times married serial spouse Elizabeth Taylor, had famously said, I was taught by my parents that if you fall in love, if you want to have a love affair, you get married. I guess I'm very old-fashioned. Her first marriage, in the long list of marriages, was to hotelier Conrad 'Nicky' Hilton, grandfather to Nicky and Paris Hilton. The marriage lasted eight months.
Drew Barrymore at age 19, married 32-year-old bar owner Jeremy Thomas at his bar 'The Room' on March 20, 1994. The 5:00 a.m. ceremony was performed by a clairvoyant clergyman hired by the couple just 1 hour earlier through a psychic hotline. Barrymore filed for divorce a month later on April 28, 1994.
Renee Zellweger met Kenny Chesney in January 2005, married him in May 2005, and the marriage annulment was announced in September 2005. A quickie marriage followed by a quickie breakup!
At the time of his marriage to Donna Peele in September 1995, Charlie Sheen had said, She's an angel sent from heaven to take me through the rest of my journey. Sadly, their journey was short-lived, ending in 1996 with their divorce, of which he said, You buy a bad car, it breaks down.
There was a time when ...till death do us part was an indispensable part of a marriage vow. Not anymore, it seems!
