Britney Spears 'Leans On' Boyfriend Sam Asghari, Actor Has Been Her 'Rock For Years': Report

Britney Spears' boyfriend Sam Asghari has been her rock for years now, according to a report.

Spears and Asghari have been together since 2016. The actor-model shared a photo of him wearing a #FreeBritney t-shirt in an Instagram Story after Spears' explosive court appearance Wednesday. According to an insider, Asghari has been his girlfriend's rock for some time now.

"Sam has been Britney's rock for years. He makes sure that she eats well and works out," an unnamed source told People. "She leans on him for everything. He works and has his own life too, but is around as much as he can."

Asghari spoke with People in February about being there for Spears especially after the release of the unauthorized Hulu documentary featuring the Pop Princess' life and conservatorship.

"I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves," he told the outlet at the time. "I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."

Asghari met Spears in 2016 when he appeared in the music video for her song "Slumber Party." According to him, his friend called him about the project, but he was not aware that it was for Spears.

"My girlfriend now at the time, personally she picked my picture and she wanted me to be cast in the music video," he told Forbes. "My friend called me and said, 'I need you to be on it. Trust me, you want to show up.' I didn't know who was shooting. It was a secret project. So I showed up because of my friend. I showed up and everything just kicked off from there."

Asghari shared his first encounter with Spears on the set of the music video in an interview with Men's Health in July 2018. He said he almost ruined his chances when he jokingly asked Spears for her name again after their introduction.

"She said, ‘Hi, I’m Britney,’ and I said, ‘I’m sorry, what’s your name again?’" he told the magazine. "I tried to be funny. I don’t think anybody got it."

They exchanged phone numbers, so they could set up a proper first date and after that the rest is history.

"I found his number in my bag. I was like, ‘He is really cute. This guy is really cute," Spears said in a radio interview in January 2017. "So then I called him, and ever since then, he is just a really fun, funny person."
