Brittany Killgore Missing: Suspect’s Suicide Note Leads Police To Body, Marine’s Wife ‘Victim Of Foul Play’
Investigators in San Diego County have possibly found the body of missing Marine wife Brittany Killgore. They have arrested a second suspect in the case.
Killgore was last seen in San Diego at 5 P.M. on Friday. Investigators believe Killgore is a victim of foul play.
'Based on the totality of the circumstances -- the fact that she is in normally in constant contact with her friends but she has not been heard from since ... we believe that there is a strong likelihood Brittany is the victim of foul play, said Sheriff's Lt. Larry Nesbit to KTLA 5 News.
A body was found near Lake Kinner in Riverside County, California, said the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Investigators are still processing the scene.
Jessica Lynn Lopez, 27, was arrested at a motel in connection to the case. Lopez was found with self-inflicted wounds by police. She is being treated at a local hospital for a medical necessity.
The location of the body was revealed by a suicide note Lopez left that detailed what happened to Killgore.
San Diego County Sheriff's Department Capt. Duncan Fraser said she will be charged with murder upon her release.
According to 10News, Lopez was trying to leave town with a friend and they were only staying at the motel until their flight. Investigators believe both women were involved in the sex industry. A neighbor told a 10News reporter that the women were into sex slave things.
I tried not to judge...but that's what they were into, said the neighbor who declined to be named to 10News.
The first suspect in the case, Marine Louis Ray Perez, is already in police custody.
Perez, 45, was the last person to see Killgore before her disappearance. He was arrested for possessing a stolen AR-15 military assault rifle. He is being held at the San Diego Central Jail on $500,000 bail, reported CBS8. Fraser told reports that Perez is being actively investigated for this disappearance.
Nesbit said Perez has been uncooperative and not completely forthcoming about his knowledge.
He's being actively investigated for this murder, Nesbit told KABC-TV.
Nesbit declined to comment on the nature of the relationship shared between Perez and Killgore, CBS8 reported.
Fraser would not go into details about the body found.
I can't comment on the condition of the body that was found, he said Tuesday at a conference. We have not confirmed that the body ... is that of Brittany Killgore. ... The medical examiner will make that confirmation.
Her cellphone was found by trolley security guards in the Gaslamp Quarter. Investigators do not believe she went there before she vanished, Nesbit said.
Killgore filed for divorce on April 10 from her husband, according to court documents. Her husband has been serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan, but was sent home to aid in the investigation of his wife's disappearance.
Cory, a vehicle operator for the army, asked people on his Facebook page to pray for Killgore.
Thank you everyone for the prayers and concern, Cory wrote Tuesday. I request you pray for her more then you do for me. I have family and friends for support. She is alone whereever she is.
Authorities have said Cory is not a suspect in his wife's disappearance.
Killgore is described as being a 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing in at 130 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark purple evening gown with shiny floral patterns.
