Brody Jenner raised some eyebrows and became the subject of social media backlash after the premiere of “The Hills: New Beginnings” early this week. Apparently, the socialite and reality star seemingly disrespected his own father, Caitlyn Jenner, in the first episode.

Many fans noticed that when Brody talked about the Jenner patriarch on the show, he refused to refer to her using female pronouns even though Caitlyn has made it clear when she came out that she preferred the pronoun “she” instead of “he.”

“My dad, he also became a woman — don’t wanna forget about that one! I had been dating Kaitlynn Carter for four and a half years, and my dad came out and said that he wanted to be called Caitlyn,” he told his friend Frankie Delgado in the premiere episode before noting that “it’s a wild world we live in out there.”

Some fans quickly called out Brody for misgendering his own father in the episode. They pointed out to the television personality how it’s not right for him to continue calling Caitlyn using male pronouns.

It should be noted that Caitlyn caused a strain in her relationship with her son when she decided to not attend Brody and Kaitlynn’s wedding last year. The couple even threw some shade at the “I Am Cait” star when they returned to Los Angeles after their Bali nuptials.

Instead of showing her support for her son on his big day, Caitlyn chose to attend a benefit in Vienna. Brody’s mother, Linda Thompson, said at the time that their son was “very disappointed” with his father’s decision.

Meanwhile, Delgado has voiced his desire for Caitlyn to join them on the rebooted show because of the different dynamic the former Olympian’s presence would bring.

“I don’t know Brody’s dad will make it on the show. That’s something the viewers will have to go and watch. But, I hope so! I want to see that dynamic to be shown on TV,” he said before admitting that he unfortunately no longer has that close relationship with Brody’s father because “it got lost in translation.”
