Brooklyn Decker: 'I'm Named After A Horse,' Sports Illustrated Cover Model Says
Contrary to popular belief, model Brooklyn Decker was not named after the gritty New York borough that she now calls home.
I'm named after a horse, Decker, the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover model and wife of tennis player Andy Roddick told Vanity Fair. My mom's best friend had a horse named Brooke, so my dad suggested 'Brooklyn' as a more formal version, and it just stuck-and now I live in Brooklyn part-time, so go figure.
The origins of Brooklyn Decker's name were not the only juicy tidbits of the Vanity Fair piece.
Decker, a native of Ohio, said she got turned down from modeling jobs because she was seen as too curvy.
There were countless jobs I didn't get because of my figure. I wasn't that successful as a model, ever, she told the magazine. I just had a few clients that really embraced my curves.
Decker became a household name after she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue in 2010.
She's also worked for Victoria's Secret and has had her share of acting roles, including the upcoming Battleship and What to Expect When You're Expecting.
Decker could also be seen cheering on hubby Andy Roddick during the American's tennis matches.
The blonde stunner hinted that kids may be in the couple's future.
I think that I'd like to try to be a superwoman and have kids and work, so we'll see if I can actually accomplish that, she told Vanity Fair. But, if we're talking dream scenario, that would probably be it.
Brooklyn Decker, who many might have thought was named after Brooklyn, N.Y., is one of the most recognized faces in the modeling world.
She received some mighty high praise from Men's Health, which named her one of the 100 Hottest Women of All-Time at No. 50 last year.
