Brooklyn Decker Wants To Adopt A Special Needs Child
Brooklyn Decker is busy saving the planet in the new Battleship movie, but down the road she wants to start a family with husband, Andy Roddick, and that may involve adopting a child with special needs.
I want to adopt a child or a baby with an intellectual disability one day, Decker told Flare magazine. I mean, that's in the distant future, but that's always been a goal of mine.
Decker and her tennis player husband, Roddick, married in 2009 and Decker once commented that she couldn't wait to be barefoot and pregnant. Despite their adoption plans being further down the road, Decker explains that she was inspired by her aunt, a Special Olympics athlete.
Unfortunately a lot of kids with intellectual disabilities are given up for adoption when they're born 'cause it's a lot for a family, she continued.
I want to live a normal life -- drive my kids to school, have tons of animals running around, be barefoot and pregnant, Decker told Women's Health magazine in 2010. I want all that ... just not anytime soon.
Decker first appeared on the big screen in the 2010 movie Just Go With It alongside Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. She is now starring in Battleship with Liam Neeson, Rihanna and Taylor Kitsch. Her next role will be in the highly anticipated, What to Expect When You're Expecting.
Decker got her start as a bikini model, but quickly moved into acting.
When people hear 'bikini model,' they have one thing on their mind, Decker once said. Then they see you're someone who shows up to the set in pajamas and no makeup, watches sports and belches.
