Brooklyn Nets player Spencer Dinwiddie may only have been in the NBA for five seasons, but he already has some superhero-packed goals for his retirement.

The 25-year-old revealed during an interview on The HoopsHype podcast this week that he plans on pursuing engineering courses in order to assemble his very own Iron Man suit. The athlete, who was recently sidelined due to a thumb injury, expects the suit will cost around $100 million.

The famous suit was a major feature in the Marvel comics, as well as the movies, which were released in 2008 and 2010 and starred actor Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark. The original Iron Man suit, which went missing from the movie’s prop facility last year, was valued at $320,000.

Despite the potential cost of making his own Iron Man suit, Dinwiddie told HoopsHype’s Alex Kennedy that he is serious about the project. The athlete said he would certainly take courses in order to make his dream a reality.

“I think you have to, to at least be able to have an intelligent conversation with your engineering team and to be able to accurately articulate the things that you want to see, versus just being like ‘Have you seen the Iron Man movie. Yeah, build that,’” he said.

Dinwiddie went on to say that the project is something that would have to be “much more hands-on” and that it would become “your baby.”

And while Dinwiddie makes more money than most people his age, as he most recently signed a three-year, $2,903,733 contract with the Nets, he still has a ways to go before being able to build his own superhero machine.
