Brooklyn Nets Still Need To Address Team Chemistry Following Ben Simmons' Arrival
KEY POINTS
- The Nets' campaign this season may fall on Kevin Durant’s shoulders once again
- The Nets have yet to address their team chemistry, according to veteran scribe Roland Lazenby
- Durant prefers to move on after the Nets shipped James Harden to get Ben Simmons
The Brooklyn Nets will try to get things back in order with Kevin Durant still at the helm.
It seems apparent that the two-time NBA champion will have to carry the Nets on his shoulders, hopefully with some help from Kyrie Irving and newly-recruited Ben Simmons.
Considering the Nets almost made it to the NBA Finals last year even with some players on the roster injured, it will be interesting if they can replicate that feat.
One person who picked the Nets to win it all this season is best-selling sports author Roland Lazenby.
“The Nets, I picked them to [win], with all that talent [and] the Nets got close last year, with their guys injured. Just on the great moxie of Kevin Durant. And so I figured this year, if you had to pick someone, you would pick the Nets,” Lazenby stated when he appeared on the Sports Bytes PH podcast.
However, the 70-year-old journalist pointed out that the Nets have one thing that has yet to be addressed–team chemistry.
“Their chemistry is terrible, was terrible and it may still be," he quipped.
Given that Simmons is new to the system, head coach Steven Nash and his staff will have to work on this if they want to stay competitive.
The Australian may not be much of a factor for now, but for the Nets to compete, they need all hands on deck.
After the James Harden trade that paved the way for the Nets to land Simmons, Durant prefers to focus on what Brooklyn has right now.
"I'm just glad that we got this thing done, and now we're able to move forward and get some of this noise away. I'm sure he (Harden) would feel the same way. But from around our team and around our group, there's noise about what may happen. So I'm glad we can push through that," Durant told reporters.
