Brothers Kill Mother For Practicing Black Magic, Not Letting Elder Son Marry Girlfriend: Cops

Police in India are investigating the death of a woman who was allegedly murdered by her two sons for practicing black magic and not allowing the elder son to marry a girl of his choice, reports said.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Nirmala Vijay Thakur from the Indian city of Mumbai, was found dead in a pool of blood at her home Saturday. The incident came to light after Thakur's husband discovered the body when he back from work after night duty, Hindustan Times reported.

The investigators determined that Thakur died after she was hit on the head with a sharp object in the early hours of Saturday. An initial investigation revealed that there was no forced entry into the house, and there were no signs of burglary.

Police arrested Thakur's two sons - 25-year-old Akshay Vijay Thakur, and a 15-year-old unidentified minor - along with Akshay's girlfriend Komal on Sunday.

"We then questioned both the sons and Komal separately and found their statements to be contradictory. Later, they confessed that they killed her," Satish Pawar, a senior investigating officer, said.

The brothers left the house Friday evening convincing the family that they were going for a picnic. However, they entered the home while their father was out for work and attacked Thakur. During the altercation, the younger son and Komal grabbed the victim while Akshay attacked her with a sickle, police said.

"At first, the trio said they were in Lonavala when the murder took place but their mobile phone locations revealed otherwise. On sustained questioning they confessed to killing Thakur for practicing black magic and not allowing the accused Akshay and Komal to get married," a police officer was cited as saying by The Times Of India.

A minor boy in Arizona was arrested in January for stabbing his mother to death. The unidentified 13-year-old boy reportedly murdered his 60-year-old mother, Mary Ainuu, during an argument over a video game.

The incident came to light after Ainuu, bleeding from cuts to her throat, ran up to her neighbor’s house asking for help. She was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
