KEY POINTS
- Bruce Willis has apologized for not wearing a mask while running errands in Los Angeles
- He said it was "an error in judgment" and asked everyone to "mask up"
- This came after reports claimed he was asked to leave a pharmacy for refusing to wear a mask
Bruce Willis is speaking out after he was spotted Sunday entering and leaving a Los Angeles store without a mask.
After a Page Six report claimed that an employee of a Rite Aid in Los Angeles asked the 65-year-old actor to leave because he was not wearing a face mask, Willis released a statement to People, saying that his action was “an error in judgment.”
Willis, who was photographed wearing a shirt, jeans and a jacket while running errands, continued, “Be safe out there everyone and let's continue to mask up."
A witness told Page Six that customers inside the pharmacy became upset when Willis refused to wear a mask, even though his bandanna was tied around his neck. After being asked to leave the store, the source said the actor left without making his purchase.
Willis was immediately roasted on social media, with one Twitter user calling the actor an “idiot.” Some slammed him for refusing to wear a mask despite having a bandanna he could have pulled up and used as a face covering.
“Why do privileged pompous pretend heroes refuse to mask up? This times it's Bruce Willis, refusing to wear a mask in a *pharmacy* of all places! Doesn't he know you ‘Die Hard’ when CoViD-19 takes away your ability to breath? Does he care if he's an asymptomatic superspreader?” another Twitter user wrote.
Another person saw the opportunity to make a pun, tweeting, “Bruce Willis's next movie: Die Hard With a Ventilator.”
Meanwhile, Willis spent the past several months quarantining with his ex, Demi Moore, and their daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah, in Idaho while his wife Emma Heming and kids Mabel and Evelyn remained in Los Angeles.
An insider earlier told People that the former couple and their grown children had been “one happy family” since they stayed together due to the pandemic.
Rumors then surfaced that Willis’ current marriage was rocky, but Scout had clarified what happened. She explained that her stepmom and half-siblings were not able to join them because one of the kids had accidentally stepped on a needle.
“My stepmom had to be in L.A. waiting to get the results from taking her to the doctor so my dad came up here and then travel got crazy so my stepmom stayed in L.A. with my little sisters,” Scout explained.
