BTS Army Shows Support Ahead Of MTV VMAs 2020 Nominations
When the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards take place in August, BTS fans want the group to be among the select artists who receive nominations for their contributions to the music industry.
Some of the most highly anticipated awards at the VMAs include video of the year and song of the year. Although fans aren’t picky about which category BTS receives a nomination for, they are adamant that the group deserves to be recognized.
The BTS army rallied together on Twitter in support of the band and their inspiring records.
“I nominate @BTS_twt for #VMAs2020 because of the incredible talent they possess and all the hard work they put into their music to make other ARMY’s happy. They have also made millions of people discover their self-worth and have helped them love themselves,” one fan wrote.
Meanwhile, another fan tweeted, “I gladly nominate @BTS_twt for #VMAs2020. With them, you can find true friends and family... In this group together with their fandom, they will make sure throughout your journey, YOU NEVER WALK ALONE,” the individual wrote.
One fan praised BTS for paving the way and creating opportunities for other musicians. “I nominate @BTS_twt for #VMAs2020 because their music has impacted and helped millions of people. Not only have they broken huge records, but they also have created a way for other artists to do what they love. LETS GET IT ARMY!” the fan tweeted.
The push for BTS to become VMA nominees comes after the band announced that they will be releasing a new single in English.
“We have prepared a new single for ARMY, set for Aug. 21. We are preparing an album for the second half of this year but decided to first release a single because we wanted to reach our fans as soon as possible,” the band revealed over the weekend.
“Due to COVID-19, people around the world have been going through tough times, and we wanted to share some positive energy with our fans.”
The song is expected to be “upbeat” and similar to their previous English-language tracks, “MIC Drop” and Steve Aoki's “Waste It on Me.”
The 2020 MTV VMA nominees are expected to be announced on Thursday. Meanwhile, the ceremony is scheduled to take place Sunday, Aug. 30.
