KEY POINTS
- "Butter" is at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Trending songs chart this week
- "Lalisa" is at No. 17 in the chart
- BTS has 7 songs scattered in the 20-position chart
Two of South Korea’s biggest contributions to the music industry made history on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart. BTS’ “Butter” and “Lalisa” by Lisa Manobal from Blackpink have spent a total of 20 weeks on Billboard’s Hot Trending songs chart for the week ending on March 12.
The two chart-topping songs are officially the first tracks to have spent 20 weeks on the list which was launched last October. Billboard’s Hot Trending songs chart tracks global music-related trends and conversations on Twitter. It does not necessarily rank songs but music topics including new releases, award shows, festival moments, music nostalgia, and related content.
“Butter” is still at No. 1 on the chart this week, marking a total of 12 weeks at the top after receiving 3.9 million Twitter mentions for the tracking week of Feb. 25 up to March 3. The summer-themed song returned to No. 1 in February after it was displaced by SB19’s “Bazinga” for a few weeks.
“Lalisa” is far down at No. 17 after receiving 289,000 Twitter mentions in the same week.
BTS is still the biggest name on the Hot Trending songs chart with seven tracks scattered across the list. Jungkook’s “Stay Alive” from the soundtrack of “7 Fates: CHAKHO” (produced by Suga) is at No. 3, Jin’s “Yours” is at No. 5 while his novelty tune, “Super Tuna” is at No. 6. Also, V‘s “Our Beloved Summer” OST track “Christmas Tree” sits at No. 12 while “Permission to Dance” and “Dynamite” take the 13th and 18th positions respectively.
Meanwhile, BTS’ “Permission To Dance” concert in Seoul is happening Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The shows Thursday and Sunday can be watched online via Weverse. Saturday’s concert can be watched live on selected cinemas in many parts of the world.
The Seoul concerts come at the heels of “Permission To Dance -L.A.” where the group performed for four sold-out concerts in November and December 2021. The group is also scheduled for four concerts in Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium in April.
