BTS Member RM's Solo Album Is On The Way: 'It's 90% Done'
Here's some good news for BTS fans. RM is going to release his first solo album very soon.
The 27-year-old boy band leader made the announcement Thursday during a live broadcast on the fan-to-artist community app Weverse. He said, "I'm just turning the live on to say… look out for my album, stay tuned!"
News about RM's album came a few days after bandmate J-Hope released his solo project, "Jack in the Box," on July 15. J-Hope's "More" reached No. 1 on Billboard's Emerging Artists Chart this week. "More," which was the BTS singer's first solo single, was released on July 1. He also held a star-studded listening party the night before the launch of his album.
BTS members last month revealed they will be focusing on solo projects for some time. The shares of the band's music label, HYBE Corporation, tumbled following the announcement. The company quickly clarified the news and emphasized that BTS will continue to perform together along with their solo activities.
Shortly after the announcement, Jungkook released the collaborative track, "Left and Right," with Charlie Puth and became the fastest Korean soloist to reach 100 million Spotify streams, in just 24 days. BTS members were also recently appointed as honorary ambassadors for the 2030 World Expo in Busan.
RM has not revealed the name or release date of his upcoming album but told fans it's nearly completed.
"I'm near the end of my work on the album. I don't know how things will go from now on, but I will probably be the next member after J-Hope to release my solo album. So, for my album, studio work is like 90% done," he said. "I haven't shot the music video or the content yet."
This is the first time BTS members are releasing solo albums, although they have previously released their own mixtapes. RM's first mixtape, "RM," was released in 2015, followed by "Mono" in 2018.
The "Dynamite" singer said his upcoming album reflects his growth as a musical artist and will feature tracks that are different from "Mono."
