BTS’ RM takes the word “Namjooning” that fans created for him very seriously and feels a sense of responsibility for this.

BTS fans, collectively known as ARMY, have coined many terms based on the seven members of the K-pop boy band such as “Jungshook” for Jungkook and “Lejindary” for Jin. For the group’s leader RM, fans created the word “Namjooning” based on his real name, Kim Nam-joon.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, RM shared his thoughts on fans incorporating this term into their lives, revealing that he feels honored.

“I’m very thankful, but also feel a sense of responsibility. I began music because I wanted to share my story and become a positive influence to many people, so I would be honored if I can continue to show my hard work and the results of my efforts,” RM said.

“Namjooning” is a verb that means “living like Namjoon (RM)” and enjoying activities that he likes, according to Urban Dictionary. These include spending time with nature, reading, admiring art and hanging out with friends.

The term “Namjooning” began to be used widely among the BTS fans, and soon, RM also started relating and connecting to the term. In fact, the rapper did not stop exploring nature and visiting museums even during the pandemic.

The 26-year-old singer also said in the interview that BTS aims to be a positive influence on society through their music and actions, citing the band’s UNICEF Love Myself campaign as an example.

When asked if he would ever write a book, RM said that he is not ruling out releasing one someday.

“When I read, I realize that everyone has one’s own area of expertise. Will I write a book? I’m not sure, but it doesn’t seem like an impossible idea someday once I gain more knowledge and experience,” said RM.

BTS is set to release its new album, “BE,” on Nov. 20. The K-pop band's label, Big Hit Entertainment, recently revealed the record's tracklist, which includes “Life Goes On,” “Blue & Grey,” “Stay” and the hit all-English song, “Dynamite.”

BTS will perform the lead single “Life Goes On” at the 2020 American Music Awards on Nov. 22.
