BTS member Suga has teamed up with multinational corporation Samsung for a new upbeat campaign released Monday.
The 29-year-old South Korean pop star was tapped by the company to remix their original ringtone called "Over The Horizon," which became a staple for Samsung phones since its debut in 2011, Rolling Stone reported.
The signature sound, remixed with Suga's musical magic, now has a more modern and upbeat tune and will release together with Samsung's newest smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Galaxy Z Flip4. The music superstar reportedly made a remix of the same ringtone in 2021.
Fans highly anticipate the unexpected collaboration, and as a treat, the debut of the new ringtone came with a release of a black-and-white "music video" featuring all the members of BTS, including RM, J-Hope, Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook, and Suga. In the video, fans can see the biggest boyband in the world grooving to the beat of the tune.
According to the outlet, Samsung shared the idea of the new remix was "to encourage people to look to a bright future and to think about what excitement is waiting 'Over the Horizon.'"
Listening closely, Samsung enthusiasts would still hear the familiar beat, but it's now incorporated with "catchy guitar riffs and an orchestral style crescendo" often heard at the end of rom-com movies. Suga and Samsung hoped to showcase a more jazzy and exciting melody through the updated ringtone.
The South Korean rapper and record producer kept the production of the new ringtone under the radar, and he has now become the "only musician" to develop two different versions of the "Over The Horizon" sound. BTS is also a long-standing ambassador of Samsung and will promote the release of the campaign for the newest smartphones.
Despite announcing a hiatus, BTS members have been exploring different paths, including releasing solo music and doing individual projects.
J-Hope recently debuted with his first solo album, "Jack in The Box," and performed at the Lollapalooza music festival, where he headlined on the final day. Jungkook has just released a teaser for his vampire-themed pictorial project called "Me, Myself and I," while Jimin topped the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart for seven consecutive weeks with his "Our Blues" OST "With You."
