BTS’ V Dethrones Blackpink As 6th Most Followed K-Pop Celebrity On Instagram

It seems fans cannot get enough of BTS’ V following the first episode of his mini-series with the Wooga Squad. Just recently, the 26-year-old gained more followers on his Instagram and became the sixth most followed K-pop celebrity on the social networking platform.
V, also known offstage as Kim Taehyung, now has 49.7 million followers on Instagram. He has edged out the group account of Blackpink which was previously the sixth most followed K-pop celebrity on the photo-sharing platform with 47.7 million followers.
The data tallied by K-pop Radar, a website that tracks the popularity and fandom size of K-pop artists, listed Blackpink’s Lisa and Jennie Kim as the most followed K-pop celebrities on Instagram, followed by BTS in third place. Blackpink’s Jisoo came in at No. 4 among the most followed K-pop stars on Instagram followed by her bandmate Rosé in the No. 5 spot.
The “Permission To Dance” singer pulled in the numbers just seven months after the septet launched their individual Instagram pages in December 2021.
V quickly garnered a million followers in 43 minutes upon opening his Instagram page on Dec. 6, 2021. For this, he earned a Guinness world record for the fastest time, reaching 1 million followers on Instagram. However, the “Dynamite” singer’s streak did not end there. He reached 10 million followers in just 4 hours and 52 minutes earning him another record for the fastest time to reach 10 million followers on the social media platform.
In addition to his impressive rank on the K-pop radar, V is ranked 9th in the Top 1,000 Instagram Influencers list compiled by HypeAuditor, an AI-powered platform tracks social media influencers’ most accurate statistics through real audience engagement.
On top of the list is Portuguese football hero Christiano Ronaldo followed by Kendall Jenner and Lionel Messi in the second and third places respectively. In the fourth spot is Ariana Grande followed by Kim Kardashian and Zendaya while Kylie Jenner and Taylor Swift sit in the 7th and 8th places on the list respectively.
On the work front, the first episode of "In The Soop: Friendcation" starring V and the Wooga landed at No. 1 on Disney+ South Korea and Japan following its premiere Friday.
Episode 1 of the mini-series saw V, Park Seo-Joon and Peakboy discussing their age gap as they listen to an old song from 2004.
