Sony Pictures has announced the theatrical release date of Brad Pitt's new action movie "Bullet Train." The movie will be out on April 8, 2022.
The action-thriller is helmed by David Leitch, who previously directed "John Wick" and "Atomic Blonde."
“Bullet Train” is based on Kōtarō Isaka's novel “Maria Beetle” and revolves around five killers on a bullet train in Tokyo and how they compete with each other for a suitcase filled with money.
This is not the first time Pitt has collaborated with Sony Pictures. Previously, the actor worked in "Moneyball," "Fury," and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" under the Sony Pictures banner.
Besides Pitt, the action-pack movie also stars Sandra Bullock, Joey King, Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Benito A Martínez Ocasio, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, and Hiroyuki Sanada. Moreover, Lady Gaga might also appear in the movie.
The screenplay of the movie is penned by Zak Olkewicz. Kelly McCormick and Antoine Fuqua along with Leitch are the producers. “Bullet Train” will also be shown on Imax.
It was reported in December that one of the cast members tested positive for COVID-19 on the sets of the movie in Los Angeles.
"Bullet Train" is not the only movie slated for April 8 release. Paramount’s animated adventure comedy, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," and Focus Features’ historical thriller movie, "The Northman," are also scheduled to be released on the same date. Universal Pictures and Disney are also likely to release two untitled projects on the same date.
Just after a week of "Bullet Train" release, Pitt will be seen in a romantic movie, "The Lost City of D," slated to release on April 15, 2022.
Apart from "Bullet Train," Sony Pictures also announced Monday that Kitao Sakurai's directorial "Oh Hell No" will release on July 1, 2022. The script of the movie is penned by Scot Armstrong, Tracy Oliver, Jessica Gao, and Rodney Rothman.
The comedy-drama stars Jack Black as Sherman and Ice Cube as Will. The movie revolves around their relationship after Sherman falls in love with Will's mother.
Sakurai is popularly known for his comedy work as a director and executive producer on "The Eric Andre Show." The 38-year-old director recently co-wrote and directed the Netflix comedy, "Bad Trip," which starred Eric Andre and Tiffany Haddish.
