Bush Involved in a Guiness Book of World Record (Baseball)
Who says George W. Bush was not going to be involved in important matters after his presidential term was over?
On The Colbert Report, comedian Stephen Colbert poked fun at a recent achievement by the 43rd President.
Bush was among hundreds of fans who helped set a new Guinness World Record for most people wearing sunglasses in the dark, on Tuesday night. The event took place in an interleague game between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros.
During the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas, and at the end of the sixth inning, all 33,533 fans were asked to put on the sunglasses they were given upon entering as part of the promotion to break the record.
According to the Associated Press, a big cheer went up when team president Nolan Ryan and former President George W. Bush were shown wearing their shades. An authenticator from the Guinness Book of World Records was on hand to verify the feat.
Bush is a former owner of the Texas Rangers. The team is now owned by the Rangers Baseball Express, LLC., where Ryan is also the Chief Executive Officer.
