Cage Fighter Brutally Beats Ex-Girlfriend To Death Over Her Relationship With A 15-Year-Old
KEY POINTS
- Paul Robson had been blackmailing Caroline Kayll over her fling with minor boy
- She paid him nearly $40,3790 in exchange for his silence
- Robson told the court he attacked the teen in self-defense
A jealous cage fighter brutally thrashed, kicked, and slashed his ex-girlfriend to death, after blackmailing her over her sexual relationship with a teenager.
He then struck the 15-year-old boy, who was with the 47-year-old victim at the time of the attack, leaving him bleeding, with several wounds.
A U.K. court heard Paul Robson of Wallsend, also a mixed martial arts coach, inflicted fatal brain injuries on Caroline Kayll, a teacher, Chronicle Live reported.
On Nov. 15, 2020, Robson arrived at Kayll's home, armed with screwdrivers, knives, two bottles of ammonia, screwdrivers, pliers, and a wrench, the court heard.
He stamped, kicked, and strangled Kayll before slashing her buttocks. Robson also hacked off clumps of her hair before spraying ammonia over her body.
Robson then assaulted the teen, who had a fling with Kayll, with scissors and hit his head with a meat cleaver, and left him to bleed with 45 wounds all over his body.
Kayll was rushed to a hospital in Newcastle where she was put on life support but eventually succumbed to injuries a few days later. The boy, however, survived the brutal attack.
Robson met Kayll when she was a prison officer and teacher at HMP Northumberland, where he was serving time. They began a relationship but broke up weeks before the murder after she got into a sexual relationship with the teenager.
Robson then started blackmailing Kayll about her relationship with the minor. The teacher paid him $40,3790 (£29,000) and took out a $14,620 (£10,500) loan in exchange for his silence, prosecutor Nicholas Lumley told the court.
Though Robson denied the crime, jurors were shown the video footage of Robson lurking around her house.
"In the minutes which followed, Caroline and (the youth) were both viciously attacked," Lumley said. After committing the crime, Robson knocked at the door of Brian and Barbara Lee, next door, and said he had "done something, that Caroline was in a bad way," Lumley told the court.
Barbara Lee, while giving evidence, said she saw Caroline lying face down on the floor. "She was not breathing. Her clothes were ripped. Her leggings were pulled down to her knees, her briefs were intact. She had a cut across her bottom."
Barbara said she saw a "young child" in the kitchen who was "staggering all over the place, bleeding profusely."
"I could see he had wounds, there was blood all down his face, he was very anxious, nervous. He was vomiting blood outside.”
The court also heard Robson who said the murder was committed by the teen and he hurt the 15-year-old in self-defense. The trial in the case continues.
