California Man Allegedly Attacks Wife With Chainsaw, Manhunt Underway
A manhunt is underway for a man suspected of attacking his wife with a chainsaw in Whittier, California, on Wednesday afternoon.
Alejandro Alvarez, 32, reportedly attacked his wife in front of their three children at their home and two of those kids were covered in blood. Police reached the scene around 3 p.m. local time (6 p.m. EDT) after getting reports of a possible attempted murder and saw a woman suffering from traumatic injuries. She was immediately transported to a local trauma center.
Officials believe that the injuries were inflicted on her with a chainsaw. The suspect remains on the loose and is still armed and dangerous.
The suspect who was last seen wearing a brown Hurley T-shirt and dark jeans is 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, officials said.
Alvarez is reportedly driving a stolen 2004 Mercury Mountaineer SUV with the California license plate 8ABD233, ABC 7 reported.
Police has urged anyone who knows his whereabouts or has seen him to immediately report to cops or call the Whittier Police Department at (562) 567-9299.
In June, a Rockford man was accused of fatally stabbing his wife with a chainsaw. Officials reached the house after receiving a call from someone at the couple’s home and found Elizabeth Marquez, 42, dead with stab injuries.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman's husband, Noe Marquez, took a running chainsaw to his wife, cutting her right shoulder, neck and ear. He was charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery in the case, local daily RR Star reported. Authorities said the couple's two children, 7-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son, were found in the home unharmed.
