'Call of Duty 2021' Leaked Details, Release Date, Features And More
KEY POINTS
- "Call of Duty 2021" is reportedly being developed by Sledgehammer
- The game may arrive in November
- Activision released the latest installment in the "CoD" series last year
Based on Activision's release pattern, it is safe to say "Call of Duty 2021" is on its way. The game publisher has not yet confirmed anything related to the next installment of the popular series but rumors and leaks suggest it is arriving very soon.
Here is what we know so far about the upcoming game:
Game developer
Industry insider Tom Henderson says "Call of Duty 2021" is being handled by Sledgehammer Games. It is the same studio that developed games under the franchise from 2012 to 2017. Based on its development cycle, Sledgehammer Studios started developing the 2021 title in 2019, Henderson noted.
The insider's claim seemingly aligns with what the developer shared on its official Twitter account. On New Year's Eve, Sledgehammer tweeted, "Power off. Power on. Let's try this again." Fans believe the company was hinting at its return to the role of developer for the latest installment of the series.
Release window
Industry insider CharlieIntel says "Call of Duty 2021" will likely arrive in November 2021. The claim was made based on the release pattern of Activision. According to the insider, "Call of Duty" usually releases games on the first Friday of every November.
The November release tradition began with "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3." Henderson had previously estimated that the next game installment could launch on Nov. 13. "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" was released on Nov. 12. While it could very lay precedent to the November release window claim, the publisher's decision to release the game last year was probably influenced by the release of next-generation gaming consoles.
Settings and features
There are several rumors surrounding "Call of Duty 2021," including its settings and features. Some say the game will be a sequel to "Advanced Warfare" and would be set in "World War 3." But these are all speculations. Neither Sledgehammer Studios nor Activision has officially confirmed that "Call of Duty 2021" is under development.
