Activision's latest installment to the hit "Call of Duty" series was released a few months ago but rumors about an upcoming title were rife online.
"CoD" insider Tom Henderson recently tweeted new details about "Call of Duty 2021." In the tweet, Henderson said Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward are not working together to develop the game. The studios are working independently on their respective individual titles, the insider added.
There were rumors that the studios were working together on the incoming title. Earlier this month, Henderson also leaked a lot of other details about "Call of Duty 2021." Though the insider usually shares reliable information, fans should temper their expectations as these are not official.
If the devs are really working on a new "CoD" title, it most likely will release sometime in autumn this year. There were whispers online that Sledgehammer originally planned to release the game in 2020 but it got delayed. As for the game's platforms, fans can simply look at "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War" to get a clue.
"Call of Duty 2021" will definitely launch on PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series, which could mean smooth running games and better graphics. But, it is also possible that Activision would launch the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 since both platforms still have a massive player base.
It is rumored that the game will be a sequel to "Modern Warfare" or another story about World War II. For the gameplay of "Call of Duty 2021," fans can expect that it is going to be an FPS title with twitchy and fast time-to-kill gameplay. It is also rumored to feature hefty multiplayer content and a short but exciting campaign.
