?Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3? DLC Release To Include New Map Packs, ?On A Very Small Map, You Can Still Be A Sniper? [VIDEO]
Although Black Ops 2 may be hogging the spotlight when it comes to the Call of Duty franchise, Activision hasn't forgotten about Modern Warfare fans. A new multiplayer mode has just been announced for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 that will be included in the second DLC collection released later this month.
Known as Face-Off mode, the new multiplayer option will feature one-on-one or two-on-two death matches. Four brand new maps will debut alongside Face-Off, which are said to be catered to custom combat matches.
These are small maps custom-created to have sight lines and layouts to keep you in the action quickly, said Michael Condrey, co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, during the unveil video on IGN.
The new maps will eliminate the process of running around the stage to find other players, allowing gamers to engage in battle quickly.
You wanna see who's the best player using no perks and just knives, here's your chance, Condrey added.
Face Off will also be available in private match and split screen, and rather than being a team-based game, the matches shift focus to the solo player.
You can lay out your rules and then just see who has the skills, the Sledgehammer Games co-founder said.
One of the maps found in Face Off called Aground will take place on a beached ship on the rocky shores of Scotland.
You find that on a very small map, you can still be a sniper, Mark Rubin, executive producer for Infinity Ward, said during the video.
The Erosion map will be set off the coast of Italy.
It's just this epic sort of experience from a visual standpoint, said Condrey.
This past November, Modern Warfare 3 broke retail records when it surpassed the $775 million mark in sales after its first five days, reported PCMag. This means that it sold more during its opening week than its predecessor Black Ops did the previous year.
