Infinity Ward will be updating “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” and “Call of Duty: Warzone” to season 5, and it will be called “Reloaded.” New modes, maps, operators, and the Games of Summer event will all be part of this update.

The Games of Summer will run Aug. 28-Sept. 7. Both “Warzone” and “Modern Warfare” players will be allowed to enter a series of five single-player Trials, competing for points and medals. Players will then compete on their country’s behalf in various shooting galleries.

Polygon reports that different rewards await each tier of medal that a player wins in the various Trials. Infinity Ward will launch the Trials on the following dates:

  • Gun Course (Aug. 28) — clear the course, eliminate enemies, spare civilians
  • Price’s Alley (Aug. 29) — clear endless targets with a handgun, spare civilians
  • Risky Parkour (Aug. 30) — run through toxic gas to clear the course
  • Shooting Range (Aug. 31) — destroy all targets in the area
  • Marksman Challenge (Sept. 1) — quickly kill long-distance targets with a sniper rifle

As of now, the rewards that have been announced include vehicle skins, XP tokens, vehicle horns, calling cards, and Legendary weapon blueprints. Players who earn a gold medal on each trial can earn the Legendary Juliet assault rifle blueprint.

At the conclusion of the Games of Summer, Infinity Ward will declare one country champion depending on how many medals its residents have earned. Player medals will contribute toward their country after Infinity Ward has weighed each by how many participants are included.

Blurring the line between an assault rifle and light machine gun, Season 5: Reloaded introduces the FINN LMG to “Call of Duty: Warzone” and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.” This very accurate weapon can be earned via in-game challenges or purchased through the Mainframe bundle for a special blueprint.

Players of “Call of Duty: Warzone” will get a new King Slayer mode, that is, a team deathmatch mode inside the battle royale. The circle does not get smaller, but it does move around the map — to keep players on their toes and fighting in distinct battlegrounds. Multiple teams will be in King Slayer, the top player in the top five teams will be designated as “kings.” Killing the king rewards bonus points and offers a free Killstreak.

A Gunfight Tournament also arrives in “Call of Duty: Warzone” during the Games of Summer. A new map designed after the Verdansk stadium’s pitch will be the setting of this mode and all “Warzone” players will have free access to the Gunfight during the tournament Aug. 28-Sept. 2.

Not to be left behind, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” will also get Ground War Reinforce, which is a variant of Ground War. Players will just need to capture three flags in the middle of the map to win the round. The twist is that players won’t revive if they die here. Instead, they’ll do nothing but watch until their team captures a flag.

Earlier this month, “Call of Duty: Warzone” topped 75 million players which in turn helped sales of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.” Infinity Ward will launch season 5: Reloaded on all platforms Aug. 24 at 11 p.m. PT/Aug. 25 at 2 a.m. ET.
