A 14-year-old boy named Ko Yamori ventures out at night without telling anyone. He is enjoying the moonlit streets while thinking about his life in "Call of the Night" Episode 1.
However, there is one problem – Ko finds it difficult to sleep at night. During one of his late-night excursions, he comes across a mysterious girl who claims she has come to save him.
The girl, named Nazuna, is a vampire and offers to become Ko's companion and gift him immortality. However, for that to happen, he has to turn into a vampire and has to fall in love with one.
"Wracked by insomnia and wanderlust, Ko Yamori is driven onto the moonlit streets every night in an aimless search for something he can’t seem to name. His nightly ritual is marked by purposeless introspection — until he meets Nazuna, who might just be a vampire! Ko's new companion could offer him dark gifts and a vampire’s immortality," read the official "Call of the Night" anime synopsis, as per Sentai.
"But there are conditions that must be met before Ko can sink his teeth into vampirism, and he'll have to discover just how far he's willing to go to satisfy his desires before he can heed the Call of the Night!" it continued.
The cast of the anime, directed by Tomoyuki Itamura, includes Gen Sato as Ko Yamori, Sora Amamiya as Nazuna Nanakusa, Kensho Ono as Mahiru Seki, Naomi Ozora as Midori Kohakobe, Shizuka Itou as Kabura Honda, Yoko Hikasa as Kiyosumi Hirakawa, Yumiri Hanamori as Akira Asai, Azumi Waki as Hatsuka Suzushiro, Eri Kitamura as Nico Hirata, Haruka Tomatsu as Seri Kikyo and Hiroyuki Yoshino as Akihito Akiyama.
"Call of the Night" anime is based on the popular shounen manga of the same name by Kotoyama. Tetsuya Miyanishi is credited as the chief director and the music is composed by Yoshiaki Dewa, while the sound is handled by Eriko Kimura.
The opening theme song of "Call of the Night" anime, titled "Datenshi" (Fallen Angel), is performed by Creepy Nuts. The ending theme song, "Yofukashi no Uta," is by Creepy Nuts.
"Call of the Night" Episode 1 is slated to air this Thursday. Fans in the U.S. can watch the episode online on Hidive. The episode will live stream in Japanese with English subtitles.
The anime is titled "Yofukashi no Uta" in Japanese.
