Cameron Diaz confessed years ago that she was not drawn to being a mother.

On Friday, Diaz shocked everyone with her post on Instagram announcing the arrival of her and husband Benji Madden’s daughter, Raddix Madden. The “Bad Teacher” star shared that the baby captured their hearts and completed their family. In a bid to protect their little one’s privacy, she didn’t share photos but said that her daughter is “really really cute!!”

A few years back, Diaz wasn’t shy in admitting that she was not drawn to being a mother. In an interview with Esquire, she even felt that having children means more work.

“It’s so much more work to have children. To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for—I didn’t take that on. That did make things easier for me. A baby—that's all day, every day for eighteen years,” Diaz said.

Tom Chiarella quipped that it’s actually forever, and she agreed. The “Charlie’s Angels” star added that not having a baby make things easier, but it also doesn’t make it an easy decision.

“I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother. I have it much easier than any of them. That’s just what it is,” she added.

Diaz and Madden got married on Jan. 5, 2015. In an interview during Goop’s Wellness Summit with Gwyneth Paltrow, she gushed about her husband and admitted how different they were from one another, but they share the same values.

“We’re totally two peas in a pod. We are both just weird enough for each other,” Diaz said.

Diaz mentioned how most men objectified women, but her husband treats her as a partner and his equal in every way. When Paltrow asked Diaz why she waited until she was 40 to tie the knot, the “Sex Tape” actress corrected her pal and said “41.” She went on and explained that it was the case because she had not met her husband yet and she was in no rush before meeting him.

Diaz said that she had boyfriends before, but boyfriends and husbands are different. At present, she has a husband who is her partner in life and everything.

Diaz took a break from her career after marrying Madden because she felt the need to “make myself whole.” She is happy and contented with her marriage with the “Good Charlotte” vocalist.
