  • Camila Cabello sparked engagement rumors due to her ring in one TikTok video
  • Cabello clarified that Shawn Mendes has not proposed yet and she's not engaged
  • The "Cinderella" star admitted she doesn't know which finger should wear the engagement ring

Camila Cabello addressed the rumors that she's already engaged to Shawn Mendes.

Cabello, 24, spoke with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday's episode of "The Tonight Show." During their conversation, the host immediately asked her about the engagement rumors. Fallon showed her the TikTok video where she was seen rocking what seemed to be an engagement ring.

"Did Shawn Mendes ask you to marry him?" Fallon asked.

"He has not," the "Cinderella" star quickly responded and quashed the rumors saying, "And I am not engaged."

The former Fifth Harmony member added that she's not aware of which finger should wear the engagement ring. She admitted that she sometimes puts a band on her ring finger and doesn't think anything more about it, other than wearing an accessory.

"I just, I swear to God I don't know what hand an engagement ring goes on, so sometimes I'll just put [a ring] on my ring finger," she explained. "I'd actually like you to enlighten me. Which hand is the engagement hand? Because I don't know. My parents are married and they both lost their rings, so my mom couldn't tell me either."

Fallon, who was also unsure, responded, "It's the left right?" He added, "Yeah, I think it's the left."

"You don't even know," she exclaimed before asking, "Is this common knowledge?"

Fallon shared that he almost ripped off his finger with his wedding ring before, referring to an accident from several years ago that left his left hand bandaged for weeks. He joked that he decided to just have a tattoo on his lower back that read, "Taken," instead of wearing his wedding ring.

"I have a tattoo of Shawn on my lower back too," Cabello joked, playing along with the host.

"Actually, it says 'Señor,' and he has one on his lower back that says, 'Señorita."

Cabello and Mendes celebrated their second anniversary as a couple in July with a romantic Caribbean getaway. The pair have been friends for years before they started dating. However, the "Havana" hitmaker admitted that she had feelings for Mendes since 2015 when they collaborated on their hit song "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

"I think he did too, but we were both really young, and he was experiencing the pressures of his career. I don’t think we knew what to do with those feelings. It was this awkward thing where we both liked each other, but we weren’t together. It was just weird," Cabello told Rolling Stone.

She confirmed her feelings for Mendes in her interview with Ellen DeGeneres in December 2019. According to her, they were being "babies" with their feelings. "But I definitely, definitely, definitely had a crush," she said.

In an interview with SiriusXM's "The Morning Rush," Mendes shared how they deal with fights as a couple. According to him, they have a very honest relationship.

"We definitely fight, and we get in the worst little arguments. But I think that we definitely are pretty good at picking up on when it's just ego talking," Mendes said. "And we usually call each other out. We have a really honest and open relationship, but yeah, we definitely fight."
