Camilla Parker Bowles is expected to receive the queen consort title when Prince Charles becomes king. However, she could have a rough start due to her unpopularity.

While speaking with Express, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam said that it is highly unlikely for Camilla to be a popular queen consort because she had a rocky start after being linked to Prince Charles years ago.

Camilla and Prince Charles had an affair while the latter was still married to Princess Diana. Years after the Princess of Wales’ death, Camilla wasn’t also immediately welcomed into the royal family because she is a divorcee.

Royal fans also disliked Camilla because of her involvement in the fall out of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage. But even though things seem to have improved for her, she still won’t have an easy start as the queen consort.

“The question of Camilla as Queen Consort, regarded now as a virtual certainty when Charles ascends to the throne, is never likely to be popular in the polls. It is universally acknowledged however that they are inseparable and perfect for each other… The Prince has done a phenomenal amount for charity and it is, to put in mildly, uncharitable to not accept the love of his life,” he said.

In the past, Professor Pavlos Eleftheriadis also spoke with Daily Star about Camilla’s future. She said that even though some people may not approve, Camilla will one day become queen or queen consort when Prince Charles ascends the throne.

Camilla will be a ‘Queen’ in a limited legal sense of being the wife of the sovereign, or ‘Queen Consort.’ She cannot be forced to be called ‘Queen Consort,’ but her role as the wife of the King is, by definition, that of Queen,” he said.

As of late, there is still no word on when Prince Charles will be crowned as king. Queen Elizabeth II is still the head of the monarchy at 93.
