Camilla Parker Bowles Being ‘Queen’ ‘Always In The Cards’ For This Reason
Camilla Parker Bowles has always been set for the role of Queen when Prince Charles becomes King.
Patrick Jephson, Princess Diana’s private secretary between 1989 and 1996, previously said that Bowles becoming the future Queen has never been acknowledged, but it has always been on the cards.
His statement was revisited after Robert Jobson reported that Prince Charles will become Prince Regent in three years when Queen Elizabeth II retires. The author of “Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes, and Dreams,” said that Bowles will hold the title of Queen even though Prince Charles may not be called King yet.
The eldest son of Prince Philip and Her Majesty will only become King after the current monarch passes away. But when the Queen decides to retire while still alive, her son will be called Prince Regent.
In related news, Jobson also likened Prince Charles to Edward VIII. The latter abdicated the throne to wed Wallace Simpson.
“Charles has succeeded where his predecessor had failed miserably. He’s married the woman he loves, despite them being divorced, and he hasn’t had to give up the throne. Camilla’s already got the one thing Wallace Simpson always wanted and never received: the title Her Royal Highness,” he said.
Catherine Meyer, the author of two Prince Charles biographies, said that Edward VIII’s legacy has always been important to the royal couple.
“The thing that hung-over Prince Charles all his young life was the specter of his uncle David Edward, and he was constantly warned against being like that,” Meyer said (via Express).
Prince Charles and Bowles wed in 2005 in a civil ceremony. Their union was solidified years after Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s divorce was finalized. While Prince Charles was still married to Prince Diana, he had an affair with Bowles. Prince Charles declared in 1995 that she aware there were three of them in her marriage.
Princess Diana passed away in 1997 following a fatal car crash in Paris.
