Camilla Parker-Bowles’ Cousin Dru Edmonstone Sentenced To 21 Months In Prison
Camilla Parker-Bowles’ cousin, Dru Edmonstone, has been sent to jail after he was proven guilty of fraud.
Edmonstone’s great grandmother was Alice Keppel, Edward VIII’s mistress, and who was also Parker-Bowles’ great grandmother. He has been accused of pocketing over $83,000, as well as using the names of his relatives to submit fake claims for income support, tax, credits, disability living allowance, and more.
According to the Daily Mail, Edmonstone also obtained thousands of money in housing benefit. He and his immediate family are living in Stirlingshire estate, which was given to them by King Robert III several years ago.
Sheriff Wylie Robertson of Stirling Sheriff Court told the publication that Edmonstone has a long rap sheet of deception and fraud. He has also altered prescriptions and fabricated evidence to a psychiatrist.
“You behaved deliberately, in a planned way, in a way which required you to maintain very detailed notes about how you had gone about things. To sustain a fraudulent scheme over a number of years, involving a number of different people, requires a degree of mental clarity, agility and ability that if you were mentally ill you might find it difficult to maintain,” said Robertson.
The sheriff also said that it seems Edmonstone’s family has been trying to justify his behavior by saying that he has some form of mental illness. “Custody is the only appropriate disposal – you will go to prison for 21 months,” he told Edmonstone.
As of late, Parker-Bowles has not commented on her cousin’s conviction, and it is highly unlikely for her to do so. The royal family does not normally involve themselves in such cases that is why Kate Middleton never talked about her abusive uncle Gary Goldsmith’s recent arrest.
Goldsmith admitted to attacking his wife, Julie-Ann Goldsmith, last year. But the former managed to escape jail time. But his wife said in court that she was traumatized by the incident. “I am suffering with panic attacks, I am not going out, only to work, food shopping and to walk my dogs,” said Julie-Ann.
