Camilla Parker Bowles More ‘Handsome’ Than ‘Pretty,’ Lacked Like Princess Diana’s ‘Classical Beauty’

Camilla Parker Bowles has been dubbed as ugly by some royal fans, as well as some of Prince Charles’ friends. In fact, royal fans have been wondering what attracted the heir to the throne to the Duchess of Cornwall’s physical appearance when Princess Diana is prettier than her.

This observation is similar to what royal author Sally Bedell Smith said about the future Queen. In the book “Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of An Improbable Life,” Smith said that Camilla is more handsome than pretty.

The mom of two also have high cheekbones, a strong jawline, and furrows befitting her age.

“It seemed to me that what she lacked in classical beauty, she made up for with the expressiveness of her eyes and the play of mischief in her smile. Her low and husky voice hinted at Marlboros and gin,” she said.

Decades ago, Prince Charles’ closest friends had the meanest reaction when they found out that the future King and Camilla had already gotten engaged. One of them said, “Can you imagine her face on a postage stamp?”

Christopher Wilson, the author of “The Windsor Knot,” also said that Camilla wasn’t aristocratic enough to be a royal bride. Despite all the criticisms she received, Camilla is still happily married to Prince Charles.

In 2005, the couple tied the knot in a civil ceremony that wasn’t attended by Her Majesty. But the monarch released a statement after the royal couple’s nuptials showing her support for the newlyweds.

“They have come through, and I’m very proud and wish them well. My son is home and dry with the woman he loves,” she said.

And regardless if the public approves of her or not, she will become Queen the minute Prince Charles takes over the throne. But no one really knows when this will happen because the Queen still hasn’t resigned or abdicated even if she’s already 93 years old.
