Camilla Parker Bowles, Princes William, Harry’s Exes: Former Partners That Attended Weddings
The royal family is known for inviting ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends to royal weddings. And such was the case for Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William, and Prince Harry.
Hello! magazine compiled a list of royal exes that were present at their former partner’s special day. Andrew Parker Bowles, the ex-husband of Camilla Parker Bowles, was present when the Duchess of Cornwall wed Prince Charles in a civil ceremony in 2005.
Camilla and Bowles tied the knot in 1973, but they released a joint statement announcing their amicable divorce 21 years later. The ex-couple share two children together.
The Duchess of Cornwall was also present at Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding in 1981. At that time, she was known as Prince Charles’ ex-girlfriend. Camilla and Princess Diana were once friends until before the latter found out that Prince Charles was having an affair with the former.
Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriends, Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas, both attended his royal wedding to Meghan Markle on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Davy and Bonas have stayed friends with Prince Harry even after their split.
Prince William’s ex-girlfriend, Olivia Hunt, stayed friends with him and Kate Middleton even after the Duke of Cambridge split from her. Hunt was invited to Pippa Middleton and James Matthews’ wedding last year.
Prince William also attended his ex-girlfriend Jessica Craig’s wedding in Kenya in 2016 after attending Craig’s brother’s wedding in 2008. Prince William reportedly proposed to Middleton on the Craig family safari reserve in 2010.
In 2011, E! News revealed two reasons why Prince William and Middleton may have invited their exes to their wedding. The first reason has to do with the fact that the royal couple is close friends with their exes.
Jennifer Clark, a spokeswoman for VisitBritain, a national tourism agency of England, Scotland, and Wales, also said that Prince William and Middleton’s wedding guest list is quite flexible.
“As William is not the current heir to the throne, his wedding is considered a semi-state occasion, rather than a state occasion, like the wedding of his parents 30 years ago. As such, Prince William and Catherine have more flexibility with their guest list,” she said.
