Camilla Will Be Queen Even If She ‘Doesn’t Want’ To, Friend Claims
Camilla Parker Bowles will most likely become queen even if she doesn’t want to, claims one of the royal family’s friends.
Alastair Bruce, the former equerry to Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and godfather to Prince Edward’s son, told Daily Star that Camilla’s new position when Prince Charles becomes king is simply a matter of English law. He also said that even if Camilla only wants to be known as princess consort, this decision won’t be up to her because she is married to the future king.
“We all know in common law that at the moment, Camilla is Princess of Wales… she is, she’s just not called that. So, if she is married to the King when he becomes King, she will be Queen,” he said.
According to Bruce, it is also possible for Camilla to be called something else. But when it comes to her official position, she will be known as the queen. But Prince Edward’s friend said that there is one way for the Duchess of Cornwall to not be queen and that is if the Parliament dictates it.
“Parliament can do what it likes, but I can’t see Parliament passing primary legislation to change the current law that she will be Queen,” he said.
Last month, royal author Christopher Wilson told Daily Mail that Camilla sealed her fate as queen the minute she wore a tiara at the Commonwealth heads of government event in Sri Lanka in 2013.
According to Wilson, one eye witness dubbed Camilla as a vision of the future when she wore the colossal Boucheron tiara and paired it with her sky-blue silk dress. The observer added that if Camilla will be queen, that was the moment when she demonstrated that she’s got what it takes.
Five years later, it was announced that Prince Charles will one day take over Queen Elizabeth II’s post as the head of the Commonwealth. At present, Prince Charles is already gearing up to become king and when this happens, his wife will be known as queen or queen consort.
