As if Crash Bandicoot’s return to gaming on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is not exciting enough, now, Crash is set to invade your mobile phones as well.

“Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!” will be available for both iOS and Android devices courtesy of an unexpected source: Candy Crush creator King, notes Engadget. "We're really excited to bring this well-known and much-loved franchise back to mobile," said King vice president of game design Stephen Jarrett, in a press release.

Once again, Crash’s long-time nemesis Dr. Neo Cortex is looking to take over the multiverse and the mutant eastern barred bandicoot stands in his way. You can expect more from “Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!” however, not just the usual flick-to-jump running segments you’re used to seeing in these games.

Based on the game’s trailer, classic bosses, epic new levels, and customizable characters await even as you get to play with friends. You’ll also be able to craft additional weapons for Crash as he tries to foil Dr. Neo Cortex’s plans.

You might spend more time building up your base with Crash’s sister, Coco Bandicoot while going on asynchronous multiplayer battles with either her or the floating spirit that is Aku Aku. Wumpa Fruit will once again be easily available on the roads of this adventure but not in a traditional gaming console for a change.

As reported a few weeks ago, Toys For Bob has developed the long-anticipated “Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.” Though this will be a follow-up to “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy,” it takes place right after the events of “Crash Bandicoot: Warped.” Published by Activision, this sequel is coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this coming October.

Crash Bandicoot first appeared in his own self-titled game on the PlayStation in 1996 and served as an unofficial mascot of the console.

You can pre-register today ahead of the US launch of “Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!” for an exclusive reward. To keep yourself sated until the game goes live, Engadget says you may as well pore through some footage of Crash in action since the app soft-launched in a handful of markets around the world a few months back.
