Can’t Afford A $130,000 Tesla Model S Plaid? Try Winning One To Fight Climate Change
The Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) Action Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting climate change, is looking to put one lucky winner in the driver’s seat of a Tesla Model S Plaid.
CCAN Action Fund is raffling off the electrified sports car as part of an effort to raise awareness about better options for cleaner transportation and transportation policies at the state and federal levels.
Raffle tickets are selling for $150 each. Tickets can be purchased online through Aug. 17 at 4:30 p.m. EST.
The drawing for the Tesla Model S Plaid will take place at 4:54 p.m. EST on Aug. 17.
The odds of winning the Model S Plaid are one in 4,500, as CCAN said it is only selling 4,500 tickets for the raffle.
The total prize package is worth $161,982.62 as CCAN Action Fund is paying for the Maryland state taxes for the car for the winner.
The Model S Plaid is the most valuable car the organization said it has ever raffled off with a starting price of $130,000.
The 1,020 horsepower Model S Plaid EV can hit 60 mph in under two seconds and drive about 390 miles in a single battery charge, according to the Tesla website. The top speed of the electric car is 200 mph.
The performance car has a yoke-style steering wheel that is akin to a race car with no stalks and no shifting. The vehicle being raffled off also has a 17-inch horizontal home theatre display in the front and rear of the car.
Proceeds from the raffle will go to the CCAN Action Fund to fight climate change so a “safe planet can be passed on to the next generation.”
