Capcom To Release 'Street Fighter V: Champion Edition' In February 2020
The third edition of the “Street Fighter V” franchise is set to be released on February 14, 2020 and by the looks of it, “Street Fighter V: Champion Edition” can very well be the “most stacked” version of the game thus far.
In his latest post, Capcom's TheStreetWriter said that the new version will bring all of the content of original “Street Fighter V” and last year's “Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.” The “Champion Edition” will likewise unveil every character and costume that was released after “Arcade Edition.”
In total, “Street Fighter V: Champion Edition” will have 40 characters, 34 stages and more than 200 costumes, making it what Capcom believes to be the “most robust” edition of the game, said Polygon.
Alongside the usual balance update, the game's developer will likewise throw in new V-Skills for each character and will be available for free to all current “Street Fighter V” players starting next month.
All downloadable content (DLC) characters, meanwhile, can be purchased or earned for free provided that they complete various in-game challenges and receiving Fight Money.
“Street Fighter V: Champion Edition” will also reintroduce Gill, the red-and-blue elemental antagonist of “Street Fighter III,” as the newest character to the already stacked roster. Players who have completed the “A Shadow Falls” story mode of “Street Fighter V” will instantly identify the hyped up leader of the Secret Society.
As the master of Pyrokinesis and Cryokinesis, Gill's normal attacks are heavy, and each will have its own “elemental alignment.”
“When Gill throws out a punch, it'll be engulfed in flames, and when he lets fly with a standing roundhouse, it'll hit opponents with a frozen force,” pointed TheStreetWriter, adding that these unique attribute is the cornerstone of Gill's “unique mechanic” called Retribution.
Also included in the “Champion Edition” is the “Sun Chase Moon” stage as one of the Secret Society's bases. A Holiday-themed is also available on November 18 where G, Poison and Lucia will be clad with the Yuletide spirit.
Capcom gave Monster Hunter fans a bit of something special, too. Players who can get a “Quest Complete” in Extra Battle Mode from November 22 to December 20 will be rewarded with a Blanka costume inspired from Nergigante of the famed “Monster Hunter: World.”
“Street Fighter V: Champion Edition” will be available on the PlayStation 4 for $29.99, while existing “Street Fighter V” owners can update to the latest version for $24.99.
Gill on the other hand can be acquired separately starting December for $5.99.
