Capcom Set To Feature 'Resident Evil Village' At TGS 2020 Webcast
KEY POINTS
- Capcom will feature "Resident Evil Village" during the TGS 2020 Webcast in September
- "Street Fighter V: Champion Edition" will also be showcased in the two-day event
- Capcom insider Dusk Golem said "Resident Evil Village" will be the longest RE Engine to date
"Resident Evil Village" will be featured at the Tokyo Game Show 2020 when Capcom hosts a two-day live web broadcast starting Sept. 26.
The news was revealed by Twitter user Capcom Dev 1 in a post before it apologized to fans of the franchise about the delay in Capcom's scheduled update that was supposed to happen last month. IGN said the broadcast will be in Japanese with simultaneous English and Chinese interpretation.
Alongside “Resident Evil Village,” which is scheduled to be featured Sept. 27, Capcom is also set to showcase “Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.” It was previously reported Capcom, during its “Street Fighter” Summer Update Livestream, will introduce five new DLC characters in the fifth and final season of “Street Fighter V.”
Dan Habiki, Rose, Oro and “Rival Schools: United by Fate” pickup Akira Kazama will join the heroes of “Street Fighter” apart from a mystery character scheduled to be announced in the fall of 2021.
“In this live web broadcast, Capcom’s development teams will be showing off their latest games. We’ll be bringing you the latest information on each one, so be sure to tune in!” said Capcom in a post, adding the show will be streamed via the CapcomUSA Twitch channel.
Meanwhile, new details surrounding the eighth title of the game’s storied franchise are pointing to the fact that “Resident Evil Village” would surpass any existing “Resident Evil” game in terms of gameplay hours. According to Capcom insider Dusk Golem, “Resident Evil Village” will be the “longest RE Engine to date.”
This came after critics were unhappy about “Resident Evil 3 Remake” and questioned the game’s short-lived campaign. Video Games Chronicles described it to be a “short adventure with not much to do afterward.”
Along this line, game length aggregation site How Long To Beat tipped the main story of “Resident Evil 3 Remake” to six hours, while “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” took nine and a half hours to complete. “Resident Evil 2” on the other hand came in at eight and a half hours.
“Resident Evil Village” is scheduled for the 2021 release window and will land on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC via Steam when it is launched by Capcom.
