Capcom may have a surprise 'Resident Evil' release a lot sooner than expected. A remake of the classic 'Resident Evil 3: Nemesis' could be on the way as early as next year, according to a YouTuber.

Spawn Wave claims that the game is on track for a 2020 launch in a new video detailing what fans can expect from it. If he is proven right, we'll be playing it next year. Having said that, don't get your hopes so high. Rumors like this do spring up often.

Of course, the 'Resident Evil 3: Nemesis' remake exists, as Capcom itself hinted earlier. Eurogamer noted that "sources close to development suggest[ed] it has been in development for some time."

In late 2018, ResetEra moderator Dusk Golem claimed that 'Resident Evil 3: Nemesis' was already in full development, citing anonymous sources.

“I'm keeping my lips sealed on anything else so don't ask, but REmake 3 is in full development right now,” he said. “I think beyond that they're waiting to see how REmake 2 and REmake 3 perform, but REmake 2 almost assuredly is going to perform well," Dusk Golem said in a forum post.

Dusk Golem leaked information about the 'Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero DLC' ahead of its release, but the accuracy of one leak doesn't make the forumgoer the authority on all things 'Resident Evil.'

Capcom has yet to release a statement about the matter. The developer is working on keeping "Project Resistance," its multiplayer survival game, in the spotlight. We likely won't hear any announcements until after it had its time in the sun.
