Stephen Colbert once said that if there was one bird associated with America, it was the Falcon. Meanwhile, Evans, who played the role of Steve Rogers (known as Captain America), has Dodger.
The "Captain America" actor shared with his nearly 14 million Twitter followers that his sidekick, Dodger the Dog, would go through a hip surgery next week. A photo of Dodger donning a new haircut was uploaded on Thursday.
"He’s got his ‘summer surgery haircut," Evans tweeted. "Next week he’s getting a shiny new hip."
Evans further said that it could take a while for his dog to recover but he was confident that Dodger would survive. Dodger’s photo has already gained nearly 7,000 retweets and comments and more than 111,000 likes since Evans uploaded it.
Netizens found Evans’ post as adorable and inspiring. Several of them replied to the "Captain America" actor’s tweet showcasing their respective dogs and sharing their experience with health challenges.
Dodger is a mixed-breed boxer, US Weekly reports. The "Captain America" actor reportedly met him while filming the movie "Gifted" in 2017.
One of the scenes in the said movie was at a shelter, Fansided reported citing The Bark. It was posited that the dogs in the scene were not actor dogs rather shelter dogs that needed adoption.
Evans did not reveal the reason for his 5-year-old dog’s hip procedure. Nevertheless, his fans sent him and Dodger loving messages.
Meanwhile, an unfortunate event happened that caught Evans’ attention. In a short video clip he just retweeted, Evans can be seen sending a message to a little boy named Bridger.
The 6-year-old boy reportedly saved his sister from an attacking dog despite knowing he would get hurt. Evans, touched by the boy’s heroism and love for his sister, promised Bridger that he would track his address and send him an authentic Captain America shield.
Evans said Bridger was brave and selfless. He added that his sister’s lucky to have him as her big brother.
