'Captain America: Civil War' Leaked Set Photos Reveal Frank Grillo As Crossbones
Frank Grillo has been on the cast list for “Captain America: Civil War” for quite sometime, but no one was sure exactly how he’d return. Now, leaked set photos from the Atlanta, G set of the movie show his character in the full garb of super-villain Crossbones.
Eagle-eyed fans have been snapping all the set photos that they can from the “Civil War” set including what appears to be Black Panther’s home country of Wakanda and a funeral scene that teases the death of a key character. Now, fans have captured Grillo’s not-so-triumphant return to the “Captain America” franchise.
For those who don’t remember, Grillo’s Brock Rumlow first appeared in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” He seemed like a pretty decent ally to Cap (Chris Evans) until Hydra revealed that they’d infiltrated all of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Rumlow’s true allegiance came out. After a brief one-on-one fight with Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Rumlow was buried under the rubble of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Triskelion. One of the last shots of the movie saw a badly burned Rumlow being rescued from the wreckage and now it seems he’s returned as his full-blown comic book counterpart, Crossbones.
It’s unclear exactly what he’s doing in the photo above, but given the hardware attached to his hands and the fact that Just Jared has photos of Chris Evans at the same filming location in full Captain America attire, odds are he’s up to no good. Although Baron Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl) is being billed as the principal villain, CinemaBlend reports that Crossbones will likely be the person responsible for the international incident that sparks the government to call for superhuman registration. The issue will cause a deep rift between Captain America and fellow Avenger Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.).
Grillo joins the already star-studded cast, which includes Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Vision (Paul Bettany).
