'Captain Marvel' Star Brie Larson Receives Flak For 'Arrogant' Remarks
Brie Larson is being criticized again for her blunt remarks about her character in Captain Marvel.
The 2016 Oscar winner attended Saturday's D23 Expo at Anaheim Convention Center, California, which showcased Disney's up-and-coming projects. One of the new projects is "The Marvels" which will feature Captain Marvel and other women with superpowers.
An interviewer from Variety asked the actress about her role as Carol Danvers to which the actress reportedly gave a sarcastic reply.
"How long will you play Captain Marvel?" the interviewer asked Larson which prompted a short reply, "I don't know. Does anyone want me to do it again?"
"Don't be so modest," the Variety interviewer said to which Larson replied, "I really don't know. I don't know the answer to that."
Her response was met with flak from Twitterati who seem to be making a record of all her shortcomings since she played the Disney superhero.
"Honest answer: Brie always came across as very smug and arrogant in her interviews when Cap Marvel came out. She thinks she's being witty, but it comes off as hostile. This looks to be another instance where she thinks she's being playful but isn't coming off that way," a person wrote regarding Larson's interview.
Another said, "Why does Brie Larson go out of her to be as insufferable and unlikable as possible in so many interviews? Probably has one of the most inflated egos of any actor working in Hollywood today."
"She's such a boring character too. I felt nothing watching Captain Marvel," another Twitter user wrote.
Before "Captain Marvel" was shown in theaters in 2019, Marvel fans criticized Larson for her lack of amiability towards the audience as she did not smile in any part of the movie trailer. Others perceive her as sexist after choosing a female journalist to interview her during the 2019 "Captain Marvel" press tour.
Larson addressed the matter in 2019 and told Variety, "I don't have time for it, you know?"
"The things that I have extra time to really look at are, like: Am I eating healthy food? Am I drinking water? Am I meditating? Have I called my mom today?" the actress added.
