Love & Hip Hop: New York” is losing a cast member. Instagram sensation-turned-reality-star Cardi B announced that she’s leaving the VH1 series to focus on other work opportunities.

In an Instagram Live video on Wednesday, Cardi told her fans that her quitting “Love & Hip Hop: New York” had nothing to do with producer Mona Scott-Young or issues with money. The “On Fleek” rapper said she was simply too busy to keep up with the show’s demands because she’s working on other projects. According to the Shade Room, Cardi didn’t reveal what those projects are but said fans will find out what she’s up to in future episodes of “Love & Hip Hop: New York.”

Although Cardi is keeping quiet about what she’s working on, most fans already know that she’s been cast in Season 4 of BET’s “Being Mary Jane.” TV Line reported last month that she’s set to star in one episode as a reality star named Mercedes. The outlet described the character as a “round-the-way beauty with a big weave, big boobs and a big booty to match her oversized, ratchet personality.” The new season of “Being Mary Jane” premieres next month, but there’s no word on what episode Cardi will be in.

The rapper and VH1 star has been hinting for a few months that she was going to leave “Love & Hip Hop: New York.” In June, Cardi said on Hot97 that Season 7, which is currently airing, would most likely be her last. “I’m not gonna be on ‘Love & Hip Hop’ no more,” she said. “I only got one more season left, last season.”

Last month, the former stripper opened up to the New York Post about how much the reality show has helped her career. “I did not really want to open up about my entire life on TV, but it was a big opportunity,” she said. “I am very surprised about the feedback I was getting. I was just being myself.”

“Love & Hip Hop: New York” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on VH1.
