Cardi B’s stylist Kollin Carter revealed recently the secret to his successful relationship with the rapper.

“She doesn’t have an ego, and that leaves so much room for success,” Carter said according to Essence.

The dynamic duo has been together since before Cardi’s famous single “Bodak Yellow” was released in 2017 and launched the artist’s career, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Carter refers to the 27-year-old as a “little angel” frequently showcasing her on his Instagram in the looks he styled.

One of Cardi’s most iconic looks — her 2019 Grammy ensemble that featured an animal-print jumpsuit, completed with ornate crystals and topped off with a satin purple cape — did not make the list of his favorites. The look was styled by Carter, of course, with clothing by French designer Manfred Thierry Mugler. It was one of the most searched topics Google included in their 2019 year-end search list.

Instead, Carter’s favorite Cardi B looks include a wide variety of styles ranging from her “oxblood” themed 2019 Met Gala look to the 2018 American Music Awards dress that paid tribute to her ancestry.

“We wanted to be over-the-top and to embrace her Trinidadian and Dominican heritage,” he said of the latter.

Covering Cardi’s body entirely in some sort of red ensemble had been on Carter’s mind for a while.

“Two years ago I envisioned Cardi having this whole oxblood moment, but we didn’t get to do it because she was pregnant,” he said.

But as soon as the stylist had his chance, he followed through with his vision. He wanted every part of her covered in some type of red except for her face, and American designer Thom Browne got straight to work. The entire outfit took more than a month to make.

Carter and Cardi seem to have an understanding when it comes to her over the top looks.

“There have been times I wanted to do something out of the ordinary, and Cardi was just like, ‘Okay, I trust you. Let’s do it.”
